The Institute for Public Policy is a Bishkek-based independent organization that was founded in April 2005. It aims at promoting formation of a practice of public policy and development of mechanisms of constructive interaction between state institutions, civil society, mass media and businesses.
In 2010 the Institute for Public Policy was among 36 well known think tanks in the world according to the research of Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences.

In total, thirty six influential scientific and analytical institutions in the world were in the research focus of Chinese scientists in 2010, including American Brookings, Carnegie Endowment, RAND Corporation, the Cato Institute, Heritage Foundation, London's Chatham House, the International Institute for Strategic Studies, Stockholm SIPRI, Japanese Nomura, Institute of World Economy and International Relations (IWEIO), Russian Academy of Sciences, etc.
Among the CIS countries, this research mentions three analytical centers - the above mentioned IWEIO (Moscow), Ukrainian Center for the International Politics Studies (Kiev) and the Institute for Public Policy (IPP) (Bishkek).
